R.I.P. IT OR SHIP IT // shipping characters from different books!

Hey, everyone! I'm back with another bookish post! The "R.I.P It or Ship It" tag is something you may or may not have heard of. I was recently watching BookTube and came across several videos of this challenge, and I've also seen it on some blogs. Since it looked like a lot of fun, I'm here today to do it myself! It was created by emmabooks.

So here's what going down. I've written some character names from various books on slips of paper and put these slips into two jars - one for female characters and one for male characters. For each round, I'll blindly pull one slip of paper from each jar and will then have to decide whether I ship these two characters or absolutely hate the idea of them being together. In other words, do I ship that ship or RIP THAT SHIP??

Without further ado, let's get this party started!

~ROUND 1~

And the first potential ship is...

OKAY, OKAY, OKAY. The thoughts are reeling in my mind!

For those of you who don't know, Sean Kendrick is one of the main characters from The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater, and Annabeth Chase is a character from the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan. Sean is one of those quiet, serious cinnamon roll boys. Annabeth is stubborn, determined, and very brave. She can come off as harsh at first, but one you've won her over, she's the most loyal, trustworthy friend ever.

JUST IMAGINE THESE TWO TOGETHER. Would Sean Kendrick and Annabeth Chase work as a couple?? In real (literary) life, Annabeth is dating the ultimate sass-master. That guy is a LOT different from our silent, solemn Sean. But you know what? I think I can see this happening! Yes, I can totally see Annabeth becoming fast friends with Sean and then becoming loyal to him for life - standing up for him and with him, listening to what he has to say because he's such a great listener himself, exchanging advise with him (maybe rubbing shoulders every now and then, but still), and so on.

I ship it!!!

~ROUND 2~

OH MY. I don't know what to think. O_O

Alex Rider is the main character of the Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz, and Sabrina Grimm is the main character of the Sisters Grimm series by Michael Buckley.

Alex is a boy spy who doesn't want to be a spy. He wants to live a calm, normal life, which (fyi) is exactly what he does NOT get. Sabrina's life goal is similar - she wants to be reunited with her parents and get away from the fairy tale craziness crashing into her life. Basically, he wants things to be normal for him, and she wants things to be normal for her.

But despite this similarity, I'm afraid that I can't see Alex and Sabrina together. It's sooooo hard to explain, but although I can maybe see them getting along in the middle of an intense action scene, I simply can't imagine them as a couple, maybe not even as "just friends." Alex would find her annoying, I think.

Therefore, I rip this ship!

~ROUND 3~

NO.

NO, NO, NO.

NO WAY.

This would never, ever work. Not in my mind, at least. I'm actually laughing SO hard right now, because it's that hilariously painful to imagine.

Leo Valdez is from the Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan, and Hawk is from a book I read recently called The Blood Race by K.A. Emmons. Leo teases everybody; he never stops cracking jokes; he once called himself "super-sized McShizzle" and "bad boy supreme," all as a joke. And I feel like Hawk leans more toward the "no-nonsense" type of girl? I mean, she's patient, but she must have a line. And I feel like Leo would dance over that line like nobody's business.

You see, Leo makes light of e v e r y t h i n g, and I suspect that Hawk wouldn't tolerate that for long in the first place, let alone in a romantic relationship. EW, no, I can't see it. I can't see them together at all!

I definitely rip this ship.

~ROUND 4~

I. Have. No. Idea.

Carswell Thorne is from The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. Imogen is from The Ascendance Trilogy by Jennifer A. Nielsen. Thorne is sarcastic, considers himself God's gift to women, can be very sweet, and is protective of his friends. Imogen is the embodiment of seriousness and no-nonsense. I don't think she ever laughed throughout the series. Not once (though I could be wrong).

These two personalities clash, if you ask me. However, Imogen has been around sarcasm. She's used to it, I think. So that aspect of it might work...

ACK, what do I think of this??? Do I ship them? Do I not? I DON'T KNOW.

I loooooove the Cresswell ship, so I may as well just rip this one, in light of the fact that nothing beats Cresswell. I honestly can't decide whether Thorne + Imogen would work or not. :P

Ship has been RIPPED.

~ROUND 5~

Okay, so this is interesting.

Zachary Goode is from the Gallagher Girls series by Ally Carter, and Amaya Mason is from the Allegiance series by Sarah Addison-Fox. Zach is charming, handsome, and humorous. He gets more grim-faced as the series goes on, but he's generally a smirk-er.

Amaya is a strong female character done right, meaning that she actually has feelings. YAY! She's kick-butt and is all around a super cool character.

Do I ship them?? After some thought, I have decided that YES, I DO. I mean, think about it!! They have a lot in common. They both know how to fight. They know to be dead-serious when the circumstances call for it and yet they let themselves loosen up sometimes (maybe in different ways and in different-sized doses, but still). I can see it in my mind, and it's really cute, which is most important here. ;P

I think Zach + Amaya could work. I CAN SEE IT, FOLKS. This could happen.

Zachaya is a ship that I ship! :D

~ROUND 6~

Oh my goodness gracious.

The king of sass + the girl who was on fire??? WHAT IS THIS.

Percy Jackson is from the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan (duh). He's sarcastic and brave and... need I say more? He's kind of famous. XD

Katniss Everdeen is from The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins. She's caring, smart, relatively serious, aaaaand everybody knows her name too.

It's so difficult to imagine them together that I think I'm going to have to rip this ship. I've sat and thought about it, even called up scenarios in my mind, but it's just SO HARD to imagine them together! Is it just me? XP

I suppose it's not a very good sign. Let's leave these two with their actual romantic interests and go ahead and tear this ship in half. We can't be bothered trying to stick two of the same magnetic ends together. Because that's what Perniss feels like to me (ew, disgusting ship name).

Rip it right down the middle, hon. Right. Down. The middle.

~~~
Originally, I was going to have ten rounds. But as you can see, the post got long. :D Maybe I'll do a part 2 later on? What say you?
ANYWAY, I had soooooo much fun with this tag - pulling slips of paper from my two favorite mugs and freaking out over the ships that resulted - that I think a lot of my blogger friends would have fun too. So Imma tag some of them. No pressure about doing it if you don't want to!
If anyone else wants to do it, feel free to steal it!
Rest in peace, ripped ships.
The Lord's Truly,
What do you think of the ships in my post? Do you agree or disagree? I would LOVE to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
    Okay, NO ONE is meant for Sabrina Grimm except Puck, so that's why it was too hard to imagine her with anyone else. Also, Hawk... ICARAWK FOR LIFE!!!
    I might actually do this, lol. I don't really do tags anymore, but this looks fun!
  9. This was so much fun to read! And I agree on Katniss's and Peeta's ship name. >.<
  10. The only two ships where I actually read both the books were:
    Zachary+ Amaya (um, I'm sorry, but I'm not seeing it, I don't think Zach would really go for someone that similar to him and if he wanted kick-butt, he would have gone out with Bex. I see them as only really good friends)
    And Percy and Katniss (dying of laughter over here. I would actually seriously like to see this ship play out even if I don't ship it because she is probably an even scarier Anabeth and Percy would be so freaked out by her just looking at him and Katniss would find him SO annoying XD)
    But, what a fun post! And I definitely need to read all of the rest of these books so I can understand them.
      I'm so glad you enjoyed, Nicki! Yessss, get reading! ;)
