TOP FIVE ENCOURAGING SONG RECS // discouraging times call for uplifting measures

These are discouraging times. The world is experiencing a bit of a crisis right now - a global pandemic, in case you're a hermit and weren't aware. And a global pandemic is no laughing matter. I thought that today I would share five of the most encouraging and uplifting songs I've had on repeat lately. Not only do they lift my spirits when I'm feeling scared for my city, state, country, planet as regards the coronavirus, but they also brighten my soul in the smaller, more personal struggles I go through every day. I included a fave snippet from the lyrics. <3

1. Every Little Thing by Hillsong Young & Free

My tippity-top recommendation!! I heard this song for the first time the other day, when my brother played it in the car, and it filled my heart with SUCH joy and hope. I've been listening to it over and over again ever since.

"They say if it doesn't kill you it refines you
But I'm trying to live, and that's bigger than survival
It's been a long night
It's been a long fight
So just remind me now
Everything will be all right"

2. SOS by V. Rose

This song is soooo underrated. It has not only a really cool sound but also incredible, thought-provoking lyrics that hit me hard every time, in the best way. A great reminder that it doesn't make sense to blame God for anything that happens in our lives. His plans are always greater than ours, and He's always in control.

"I needed to wreck
And You needed me to know
That I ain't rowing the boat
That I'm not running the show
And I needed to grow"

3. The Breakup Song by Francesca Battistelli

This song empowers me mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. It fills up my confidence when I'm running low and reminds me to find my identity in God, to see myself how He sees me - loved, beautiful, and strong in His strength.

"Oh, fear, you don't own me
There ain't no room in this story
And I ain't got time for you
Telling me what I'm not
Like you know me, well guess what?
I know who I am"

4. Turn Up Your Light by V. Rose

(Another V. Rose one because I love her music to pieces.) I listened to this the other day for the first time in years, and five seconds in I felt ready to start dancing and sharing Jesus with everyone I meet (internet included, seeing as I'm currently not meeting many people in person XD). That's what this one is about - sharing the light of Jesus. A lot of people are terrified right now. As my pastor shared in a video recently, they don't know what to do, but we do. We need to spread hope now more than ever.

"Let's light up the city
Everybody shine your light
Cuz the Light of the city
Could be coming back tonight"

5. Steady by GAWVI

Something about this song's vibe is SUPER soothing. Better yet, it's all about the steadfast love of God in our lives. The world could be falling apart around us (it kinda is), but the Lord is our unshakeable Rock. Everything else might have changed, but God has never changed and never WILL change. We'll be okay as long as we stay on our Rock. No diving off into insanity allowed. XD

"A higher place than where I began
Life from nothing
You're so much more, Your love is worth it all
I'm seeing more clearly"

~~~
I hope this post and these songs can be an encouragement to you. Every little thing in your life will work out just fine. God is waiting to hear your cry for help, waiting patiently for you to listen to His still, small voice. Fear doesn't deserve a place in your heart. Shine brightly in the middle of this dark, terrified world. And stand firmly on the Rock of Jesus - He won't be shaken, so neither will you.
The Lord's Truly,
What are some songs (or other sources) that have brightened your soul in the Lord lately? Comment below! Leave links or a Bible verse, if you feel so inclined. There's no such thing as too much encouragement. <3
