THE TORCH KEEPERS BY HOSANNA EMILY // an interview with lovely nura!

44764695. sy475

On September 1st, Hosanna Emily published her Christian fantasy The Torch Keepers. Today, in celebration of this brand-new release, I am going to INTERVIEW one of her characters! I haven't read The Torch Keepers yet, but I am SO excited about it and I can't wait to lose myself in the world of Érkeos.

~ about The Torch Keepers ~

The King's blue flame quivers as a new fire arises, and Kadira must hold fast to the torch. It's destiny; she's a torch keeper.

A fiery revolution sweeps across the kingdom of Érkeos, and each person must choose a side. Kadira, a girl set apart to serve the King, finds her city engulfed in emerald flames. Her blue eyes mark her as the enemy, and she flees from death. It stalks her anyway. When she meets Rekém, the Liberation warrior sent to kill her, she rebels against the King's ways. Two armies collide; indecision isn't an option. As hearts and lives hang in the balance, Kadira and Rekém could bring destruction or liberation to the entire kingdom.

~ about the author ~

Hosanna Emily is an ordinary girl following an extraordinary God. She’s a seeker of beauty in the midst of life, whether through creating emotion through ink on paper, dancing under the stars, using sign language in songs, or offering a hug. As a writer, Hosanna wants to showcase the glory of God to the world while reaching out to love others. She published a novella at age thirteen and continues to write stories and share her heart on her blog, Having a Heart Like His. She lives on a farm in the middle of nowhere with her family of 12.

Her blog is amazing, so be sure to check it out and subscribe!

Now, onto the interview. Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, allow me to introduce you to...

Nura is absolutely precious, and I'm looking forward to officially meeting her in The Torch Keepers. <3

~ the interview ~

1. It's wonderful to meet you, Nura! I hope you don't mind my asking, but I was wondering... have you lacked your sight since birth? How do you feel about living without the ability to see?

Um, hi. *shy wave* I’m not really sure when I ‘came blind. It was a long, long time ago. My mama and I were lost in a big sandstorm, and that’s when ‘Dira found me. I was blind then, so maybe I was that way forever. Or maybe that bad storm hurt my eyes. I don’t ‘member, ‘cause I was really tiny.

But I’m not sad that I can’t see, ‘cause it means the King made me special! That’s what Father tells me. He says that the King loves me so much, and that nothing can make Him stop loving me. I just have to use my image—imagina—what’s it called? That thing, so I can pretend to know what everything looks like. It’s fun.

2. What are some of your favorite pastimes?

Past-times… does that mean the things I like to do? I have lots and lots of them! I like to go on walks and pick flowers and play in the creek. Oh, and I like when ‘Dira tells me stories of what everythin’ looks like, and we find rocks t’gether and play a lot. And I like rain and sunshine and helping Gamma cook and drawing pictures and tons more stuff.

3. I'm curious about your family, Nura! What can you tell us about them? :)

Oh, I have a really big family. Once it used to just be my mama and me, but when she died I became part of Gamma and Father’s family. And there’s a bunch of us!

Gamma is my grandma, and Father is my father. *giggles* And then there’s ‘Dira, and she tells me lots of stories. And Ike is so nice too. He takes me on adventures and makes me laugh. And I like Faine too, but he is so serious and grumpy sometimes, and I don’t know if he likes me.

There’s a bunch of other little kids like me too, and we have tons of fun!

4. I hope it's okay to broach the subject of your condition again, but if you were able to see only one thing or person, what would you choose?

Wow, that would be super cool.

I guess… I would want to see… well, I’d like to see a lot of things. Like the flowers! I want to see what they really look like and what “pink” really is (‘cause it’s my favorite color).

But most, I would want to see the King. That would be so fun. ‘Cause He loves me a lot, and I would want to see His eyes and His smile and how strong He is so I can remember that He always protects me from bad guys. That would be my favorite person to see. *smiles*

5. And finally, lovely Nura, would you mind sharing with us one of your absolute favorite memories?

I ‘fink my favorite memory is every day. ‘Cause there’s fun stuff all the time. There’s always things to make us happy and be glad that the King loves us!

But one of my favoritest times was when I lost my first tooth! It felt super weird, and there was some blood that tasted weird. But Ike helped pull it out. Then we all shut our eyes (which is silly, ‘cause I can’t even see! *giggles*) and threw the tooth and made a wish. That was fun.

Thanks for asking me good questions! *waves*

~
